Craft Trivia:

Pineapples are considered the queen of all fruits Because it has a crown. Pineapples are considered an expression of "welcome" throughout the south and symbolizes hospitality, friendship, and warmth.

In Europe, because the fruit is so perishable, it became a symbol of luxury, nobility, and wealth. Europeans were including the pineapple in ceramics, dishware, linens, furniture, and architecture.

Did you know: The Pineapple originally calls Brazil it's home. It spread from there, due to the movements of the Tupi Indians, who took it throughout parts of South and Central America.

While most people would associate the pineapple with Hawaii, the fruit actually did not make its way to the Hawaiian islands until the British brought it there in 1880s. The popularity of the fruit was further widespread with the formation of James Dole's Hawaiian Fruit Company in 1901.
